REMOVABLE PROSTHESES
Missing teeth can be replaced with removable prostheses (dentures). When only a few teeth are missing, the prostheses are called removable partial dentures. These partials are fabricated of a metallic alloy with acrylic teeth. When the patient is fully edentulous, complete dentures can be fabricated out of acrylic. Often fully edentulous patients who have been missing teeth for over 30 years have sore gums. Your dentist may refer you to a prosthodontist if they consider your case too challenging.
If the jawbone has undergone too much resorption, dental implants may be a good option for restoring form and function. Comfortable removable prostheses using dental implants as anchors can help you achieve optimal mastication and aesthetics.
